Course aims
The aim of the course is to view language knowledge (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary) and language subskills (listening, writing, reading, speaking) from the point of view
Brief description of the course
The course will focus on the main terminology of pragmatics and evaluate the role of pragmatics in the process of learning English. An important place is taken by the pragmatic analysis of the English language texts.
Independent work is made up by reading of relevant research literature and text analysis.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is familiar with the basic terminology of language pragmatics;
- can evaluate text from the point of view of pragmatics;
- can utilise knowledge in pragmatic text analysis.
