Course aims
The objective of the course is to develop skills for creating and analyzing dramaturgical works.
Brief description of the course
During the course the students learn the role of dramaturgy in storytelling, and become familiar with the main concepts in the film dramaturgy and narrative theory. The students learn the structural models predominantly used in film narration, and are given the guidelines for creating characters and suspense. Additionally the students are given a short overview of the history of dramaturgy, irony and humor theory, the rules and convention of writing the dramatic dialogue, screen adaptation of literary works, and features specific to the short film.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has the necessary knowledge and skills for dramaturgical and narratological analysis of films and their own creative works.
