Course aims
Splitting the scene into shots. Continuity of the movement.
Continuity of Lighting in the scene.
Visual language.Design principles:unity,balance,visual tension,rytm, proportion, contrast, texture, directionality.
3-dimensional space on a flat screen. Forces of visual organization: horizon, vertical, diagonal, triangle,s-line, vanishing point, open & closed frame.
Lens language: wide lens & expansion of space, deep focus, linear perspective& enhancing of the movements.
Long lens: compression of space, selective focus,manipulating the perspective. Zoom lens.
Complex shot. Different movements of the camera. Motivation & invisible technique.
Devices for camera movement: pan&tilt head, dollys, cranes, steadicam, camera cars, handheld camera.
Exposure. Sensitometry. Light meters: the incident meter & spot meter. Low key & High key lighting. Contrast & effects of different daytimes.
Brief description of the course
Looking & analyzing the films: visual style of silent films.
Sound film: mise-en-scene & camera movments.
Makeing the storyboard of complex visual composition.
Writing or selecting the short story for short b/w silent film.
Makeing the Storyboard for this short film. Discussing the lighting for short film.Technical preparation & shooting the short film.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands of the basics of lighting and camerawork.
