Brief description of the course
Perception and Rules: Characteristics of human visual perception and the classical and contemporary principles of visual composition.
Technology: Basic principles of optics and the structure and operation of contemporary photographic equipment (cameras and lenses).
Light and Space: The physical properties of light and its creative use in photography to create depth and spatiality.
Analysis: Systematic analysis of photographs in seminar settings.
Practical Studies: Practical exercises, independent photographic assignments, and the creation of a short film.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- applies the fundamental principles of photography and the rules of visual composition in practice, taking into account the specific characteristics of human visual perception;
- selects and purposefully uses contemporary photographic equipment, optics, and lighting techniques to solve professional tasks and create spatial imagery;
- analyses different aesthetic movements in photography and art history and explains how various compositional types and image structures have been used historically;
- carries out independent and collaborative creative projects, demonstrating readiness to lead cooperation processes and integrate technical solutions into audiovisual storytelling;
- relates photographic expression to film language, using composition as a conscious tool for storytelling.
