Course aims
To provide knowledge about models of children's health behaviour and well-being. Design skills to analyze children's welfare and development patterns.
Provide knowledge about aging well-being and health problems. Provide knowledge for methods that support older people's well-being. To design skills to analyze the health problems and well-being of elderly people.
Brief description of the course
Homeostatic theory and life-course development. Societal structure and children's well-being. Socialization and childhood. Emotional and social development of children. Children's health behaviour and well-being. Interpersonal relations and well-being. Family structure and child development. School, cognitive development, and well-being. Health and child well-being. Risk and vulnerabilities in childhood. Economics, social policy, and child well-being.
Population aging: demography and epistemology. Aging and public health: interventions, the health care system, and health services. Promotion of healthy aging and community-based networks. Decline of cognitive, social and emotional functions: support systems and intervention. Resilience and longevity. Social resources and well-being of older people. Cognitive and personality resources of resilience.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the most important models and theories of child well-being and health behaviour;
- can analyze the factors of child well-being.
- knows about the well-being and health of elderly people;
- knows how to improve the well-being of elderly people;
-can analyze problems of health behaviour and well-being of elderly people.
