Course aims

Achieving competency in health education and in health promotion universal prevention area, using scientific and most effective concept of critical life skills.

Brief description of the course

Health education standards and curriculum. Effectiveness of health education concepts and short history. Concept of life skills, health education standards. Programs, management, evaluation, strategic planning. Moderation in health education, learning process and strategic planning. Development process of values. Critical life skills. Levels of learning. Beliefs. Self-esteem and health behaviour. Overview of protective factors of health behaviour and the strategy for handling them. International health education.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Is able to choose an effective life skills concept for planning health education.
Is able to explain the components necessary for affecting health behaviour and the strategic principles of teaching them.
Is able to develop/adapt a program in accordance with health education standards.
Is able to explain the development process and principles of protective factors.
