Course aims
To give students an overview of the technique and the teaching methodology of athletics disciplines.
To give students a practical experience in preparing, conducting and evaluating the class of the athletics.
Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of the general principles of the technique of athletics disciplines. It is explained how various techniques can be taught in the class of athletics. Various teaching phases and teaching methods are discussed (component based and whole performance based methods). The special case of teaching children are discussed. The course participant has to conduct an athletics glass on a predefined discipline, review the glass of the other student and perform a test on theory. In addition, the course participant has to attend to glasses given by other students participating in the course.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the theoretical principles of teaching methods for athletics disciplines (sprint running, long jump, high jump, shot put, ball throw, pole vault, discus throw, hurdle sprint);
- can conduct the glasses where athletics is taught;
- can evaluate the glasses where athletics is taught.
