Course aims
The course aims to create the prerequisites for acquiring the technical skills necessary for volleyball. It seeks to support the development of skills in teaching game tactics and in forming a team. The course also provides opportunities for students to acquire the necessary skills for organizing and conducting volleyball competitions. Additionally, it aims to support practical experience in preparing, conducting, and analyzing volleyball lessons.
Brief description of the course
The course content focuses on various aspects of volleyball techniques, including movement, overhand serves, underhand serves, digs, passes, attacks, and blocks. It also covers the development of volleyball game tactics, including modern offensive and defensive strategies, as well as competition rules. Students will gain experience in conducting practical volleyball lessons, teaching technical skills, selecting and varying exercises, correcting mistakes, engaging in self-analysis, and opposing their peers. Furthermore, the course covers teaching both offensive and defensive game tactics.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- can demonstrate elements of volleyball technique;
- is familiar with the tactics of volleyball, and can teach both offensive and defensive tactics;
- can teach technical techniques of the game, select exercises and correct mistakes;
- is able to distinguish and support the learner's autonomy, competence and need for belonging in teaching;
- distinguishes students with different abilities and can creatively find tasks that are individually suitable for them;
- understands and is able to follow and value the principles of teamwork;
- knows the competition regulations, and can assemble a team and coach in competitions;
- is able to choose a communication style suitable for the target group and is proficient in English professional terms;
- can assess a student's development with professionally appropriate physical fitness tests.
