Course aims
Presenting a variety of youth activity areas, their environments and methods. To develop the skills of existing methods and environments to adapt and create new ones. Provide an overview and demonstration of environments that are innovative and implemented in youth work proceeding from the need of youth.
Brief description of the course
Different methods of youth work and their origins. Experiential learning opportunities. Active methods of youth work. Practicing of methods. Practical skills: communication skills, group processes dynamics, information flow, enhancing cooperation, auditory skill development and self-expression, foster creativity, problem-solving. Methods of analysis and performance evaluation. Youth worker goals. The functioning of the needs of young people and youth work places. Modern youth environments. Youth work in a virtual environment, at school, in the community, in prisons, on the streets and so on. Environmental creating and organizing principles. Didactics principles of youth work.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- orients in different environments, formats and methods of youth work, and is able to select and implement, as appropriate;
- understands the importance of young people's involvement in decision-making and action;
- is able to use active learning techniques to involve young people in various activities;
- is familiar with a variety of youth work environments;
- understands the principles of youth media creation and management;
- is able to work with young people to create and appropriate forms of work environments.
