Course aims
Students acquire knowledge about the role of the group in the functioning of an organization, experience group work, and get skills to implement several group methods in problem solving. New knowledge is acquired and tested mostly by the methods of team work. Practical tasks are connected with mapping the problems of an actual organization (TPU) and generating solution propositions following the principles of the quality circle.
Brief description of the course
Group, workgroup, team – concepts and categories. The role of the workgroup in the organization, team-centered views of organization (TQM). Characteristics of a group. Psychological characteristics of groups. Forming a workgroup – bases and means (FIRO-B). Functioning of a group. Leadership and management. Team development and training (skill training, optimization of interpersonal relationships, learning methods). Technology of teamwork – tools of generating ideas, structuring and decision-making (brainstorming, analysis of force fields, Open Space).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Lisaks loengute kuulamisele moodustatakse 6-8 liikmelised rühmad. Rühmade vahel jaotatakse läbitöötamiseks kohustuslik kirjandus. Seminarides õpitakse rakendama meeskonnatöö tehnikaid reaalsete ja simuleeritud probleemide lahendamiseks. Rühmatöö tulemused ja käik tuleb vormistada aruandeks.
