Course aims
Studying of influence of the religious-philosophical ideas on the literature of the XVIII-XX-th centuries. To develop methods for analysing Biblical motifs and narrative structures, their genesis, semantics and function in the literature texts.
Brief description of the course
The religious-philosophical ideas of an epoch of classicism in in works of М. Lomonosov and G. Derzhavin. Philosophy of the Age of the Enlightenment in N. Karamzin`s works. A. Pushkin and Christianity. The religious-philosophical ideas and images in works of M. Lermontov and N. Gogol. The religious-philosophical ideas and images in works of F. Dostoevsky, L. Tolstoi, N. Leskov. The religious-philosophical ideas and images in works of A.Tsehhov and, L.Andrejev. Russian religious philosophy of the beginning of the XX-th century and its reflection in the literature. The religious-philosophical ideas and images in works of A. Blok, A. Remizov, V. Ivanov, V. Majakovsky. The religious-philosophical concept in the M. Blgakov`s novel “Master and Margarita”. The religious-philosophical concept in the B. Pasternak`s novel “Doktor Zivago”. The religious-philosophical ideas and images in the postmodernist literature (V. Erofeev. “Moskva – Petuški”).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Understanding of semantics and function of literary texts in context of the religious-philosophical ideas of XVIII-XX-th centuries.
