Course aims
Introduction to different conceptions of Russian history, develop students experience in independent research. Analytical work with sources and academic texts on history of Russia
Brief description of the course
Russian-Japanese war and revolution of 1905-1907. Russia in First World War. February Revolution. Dethronement of monarchy. Bolsheviks coming to power. From October Revolution to Civil War. Civil War and Intervention. Transition to New Economical Policy. Big Jump towards socialism. Industrialisation and collectivisation. Russian domestic and foreign policy in the 1930s. Russia in World War II. Final post-war consolidation of soviet totalitarian regime. Reforms in 1960s USSR.
