Course aims
To systematize the previous knowledge of calculus and analytic geometry (scalar and vector concepts, transition from one coordinate system to another, Gauss-Ostrogradski and Stokes theorems etc.) to obtain new knowledge (concepts of the vector field and of tensor, the work with indexes, curvilinear coordinates, differential operators rot, div and grad; etc.), solving of simple applied problems (in electrodynamics and theoretical mechanics)
Brief description of the course
Vectors and vector field. Tensors. Differential operators. Gradient, divergence, rotor. Flow of a vector field. Circulation. Curvilinear coordinates. Line and surface integrals. Gauss- Ostrogradski and Stokes' theorems.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Knows mathematical truths and is able to use methods in volume of a subject, is able to prove and apply them. Is able to solve simple application tasks.
