Course aims
The aim of the subject is to provide basic knowledge of linear algebra and polynomial algebra and their applications. This is a very necessary part of mathematics teacher education.
Brief description of the course
Field. Complex numbers and operations on them. Matrices and opetations with them. Determinants, their properties and calculation. Inverse matrix, methods and properties of finding it. Vector space. Linear dependence of the vector set. Vector space base. Rang. Systems of linear equations. The concept of a polynomial. Roots and factors of a polynomial. Bezout's theorem and Horner's scheme. The greatest common factors of polynomials and the Euclidean algorithm. Interpolation problem., Divorce into irreducible factors. Rational fractures. Viete formulas. Basic theorem of algebra. Polynomials of multiple variables, symmetric polynomials.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows matrices, vector space, systems of linear equations and complex numbers;
- is able to solve standard problems related to matrices, systems of linear equations and complex numbers;
- is familiar with concepts related to polynomials, is able to solve problems related to polynomials.
