Course aims
Introduction to the basic principles of financial mathematics, solving financial mathematical tasks. To provide an overview of the possibilities of using Excel in solving financial mathematical tasks.
Brief description of the course
Simple and compound interest. Present value formula and its application in various situations. Discounting. Repayment of debt in installments. Currency exchange. Continuous interest. Taxes and inflation. Annuities. Financial risk and its diversification. Evaluation of a securities portfolio. Bonds. Repayment schedules for loans.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge of financial mathematics and financial mathematical techniques;
- can solve simpler financial mathematical tasks and knows when and where to apply them in practice.
