Course aims

Optional subject, or Minor (Mathematical Economics) subject. To give overview about statistical methods in economics and about possibilities of Excel in statistics.

Brief description of the course

Hypotheses testing in economics. Forecasts in economics. Decision-making process. Concept of model. Statistical models. Process of modelling. Confidence level of the model. The statistical importance of parameters of the model. The elementary analysis of time series. Trend fitting. The factor analysis. Opportunities of MS Excel in economic statistics.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows mathematical facts;
- is able to use methods in volume of a subject.
