Course aims
To get acquainted with the basic terms in the Theory of Groups and Geometry, which are necessary part of the higher education in mathematics.
Brief description of the course
Elements of Theory of Groups: groups, symmetric group, transformations, group of transformations, normal subgroup, quotient group, homomorphism theorem for group. Symmetry groups of regular polyhedrons. Affine maps, isometries, similarity transformations of plane. Klein Erlanger Programme. Elementary geometry, Euclidean geometry, affine geometry.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows mathematical facts;
- is able to use methods in volume of a subject.
