Course aims
Major. To introduce important elements from group theory and to show their usage in geometry. To show how geometries depending on the acting group.
Brief description of the course
Definition of a group. Substitution groups. Symmetry groups of regular polygons. Regular polyhedrons and their symmetry groups. Homomorphism and isomorphism of groups. Subgroups, normal subgroup and factor group. Matrix group, general linear group and orthogonal group. Transformations of frame. Groups of translations, rotations, moves and isometrics. Group of affine transformations on the plane. Inversion and conform transformations. Kleins programm.
