Course aims

Deepen study of notions of elementary school mathematics.

Brief description of the course

Problems of theory of probability and mathematical statistics in basic school. Mental calculation strategies. Similarity of equation systems. Several methods of solving equation systems with two unknowns. Proportional and inversely proportional dependences, linear and quadratic functions.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows about different representations of statistical data and schemes for calculating variables;
- is able to solve basic exercises in classical probability;
- has a deep understanding and knowledge about the divisibility of integers and different strategies of mental calculation;
- knows how to solve equation systems using different strategies for solving;
- knows basic functional relationships.
