Course aims
The enable students to gain knowledge about the principles of enterprise (organisation) leadership and connections to environmental protection. To give an overview of methods used for envrionmental management and give basic skills needed to apply them.
Brief description of the course
Leadership. Sustainable development principles and ties to environmental management. Markets, efficiency, ecoefficiency. Legal regulations. Regulations and controlling mechanisms. Voluntary obligations and standards. Parnership between authorities, stakeholders and public. Environmental impact assessment, environmental assessment of products and services. Sustainable product design. Environmental management systems. Life Cycle Analysis. Risk Assessment. Clearner production. Eco-marketing, eco-accounting. Environmental lables.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to explain the role of environmental management in the management system of an organisation;
- is able to demonstrate knowledge about environmental management tools, methods and principles;
- is able to use basic environmental management principles;
- is able to take part sucessfully in the complying of an environmental management system and managing it;
- is able to conduct an internal environmental management audit.
