Brief description of the course
This course provides an overview of the Environmental Laws of Estonia and the European Union (focusing on the meaning of the concept of Environmental Law, and its system, sources and main principles). Students also take a look into the International Environmental Law (primarily the international conventions). Seminars are run with intent to learn through environmental case studies. As their homework, the students are expected to write an essay, or analyze a statute or a draft statute.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- defines and use key terms and principles of environmental law;
- describes the key environmental regulation and their role in environmental protection system in Estonia;
- demonstrates skills in interpretation and implementation of environmental law.
