Course aims
Review of meteorological and hydrological conditions in Estonia.
Brief description of the course
Estonian position in world climate regionalisation. Climate factors and foundation of special hierarchic climate systems. Time-spacial distribution of most important climatic elements, general and applied regionalisations of climate. Meso- and microclimate. Climate and productivity of plants, agroclimate. Agroclimatic characteristics and their ecological content. Agroclimatical regionalisation. Methods of agrometeorological prognoses in Estonia. History of climate research, sources of data and infosystems in Estonia. Water cycle in Estonia. Watershed. Rivers, lakes and bogs. Main characteristics of hydrological regime of Estonian internal waters.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
