Course aims
Supporting subject. Russian for special purposes. The course is aimed at those learners whose Russian language proficiency is at B1 (intermediate) level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The aim is to acquire command of Russian at B2 level (upper intermediate) according to CEFR. Acquisition of the specialisation terminology in Russian.
Brief description of the course
Integrated development of all language skills. Focus on professional field-specific Russian vocabulary. Work with texts. The selection of study materials is based on the students’ professional specialization. Discussions on topics related to
the professional field. Topics: Our home: capital and province, Social problems, Russian society in the perception of foreigners, Media and Internet, Choice of profession, Priorities of the young generation, Employment problems, Gender equality in the labor market, Pace of life, Work and leisure, Personal problems, Questions of love and marriage, Family relationships, Discoveries that changed the world
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands longer speech, reports and news on common and specialised topics;
- understands specialisation articles;
- is able to express his/her opinions and justify in speech and writing;
- is able to write an essay, an overview and different types of letters;
- is able to compile and present a report related to specialisation.
