Course aims
To develop understanding of the society, culture and history of the Kingdom of Sweden. Develop ability to understand and analyse political, historical and cultural aspects of this society. Participation presupposes proficiency of Swedish at no less than B1 level.
Brief description of the course
The Kingdom of Sweden – general description, geography. History of Sweden. The royal family. Stockholm: sights. Traditions and anniversaries. Swedish society and governmental system.
Independent work includes: going through literature on the treated topics, preparing for analytical discussions, writing thematic generalizing essays, compiling a written presentation related to the range of topics treated and presenting this orally.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- ability to use vocabulary related to a specific field;
- acquiring knowledge related to the corresponding field;
- skill of oral and written self-expression;
- skill to understand speech related to the corresponding field;
- skill of compiling and presenting a report;
