Course aims
Overview of the main principles of literary analysis and their application in interpreting fiction.
Brief description of the course
Literary- critical analysis of one contemporary Swedish novel. Its historical, social and philosophical background. Topic, genre, story line, composition, characters, message. Relevant literary theory. More important tools of expression. Text interpretation
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Knowledge of the main principles of literary analysis;
Command of the metalanguage of analysis;
Ability to approach a text from different perspectives.
