Brief description of the course
The nature, operating principles, and limitations of artificial intelligence. The possibilities and challenges of generative artificial intelligence in solving educational problems. The integration of artificial intelligence into the design of the learning process, taking into account pedagogical objectives and learners’ development. Ethical issues, risks, and opportunities related to the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the principles of responsible use. The evaluation of the reliability and quality of AI-generated content. Searching for scientific sources, assessing their credibility, and applying an evidence-based approach in teaching and in education more broadly.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows what artificial intelligence is and understands its main operating principles and key limitations;
- divides problems into smaller parts and provides instructions in a way that enables AI systems to effectively contribute to solution development;
- knows and applies AI tools in various teaching activities (e.g., planning, implementation, and assessment), taking into account pedagogical opportunities as well as potential risks, benefits, and ethical implications;
- integrates artificial intelligence into the design and delivery of learning processes;
- evaluates AI-generated content in order to make informed and ethical decisions;
- finds reliable and diverse sources needed for their work, process them, and critically assess their credibility.
