Course aims
Introducing the opportunities of dance and movement therapy in the work with people with special needs.
Brief description of the course
Stages of development during the life span, different perspectives of the life span (physical, cognitive, emotional and social). How to create/define an understanding of normal and pathological development. The effect of genetic and environmental factors on the development. Work with different target groups (theories and methods): mental disorders, mental intellectual disability, physical disability. Observing and assessing movement; intervention planning, including individual and group work.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Students:
Have basic knowledge about the opportunities of application of dance and movement therapy on people with special needs;
Are able to independently carry out a short therapy session with the target group.
