Course aims

Giving an overview of theoretical foundations of arts therapies and integrated application of various modalities.

Brief description of the course

Theoretical foundations of integrated arts therapies. Various modalities of creative self-expression: graphic arts, music, dance, drama and word plays, creative writing. Psychotherapeutic thinking. Confidentiality. Therapeutic relationship, resistance, transference, countertransference. The process of therapy. Verbal and non-verbal communication in therapy. The principles of group therapy and group process. Creative process and ethical principles. Integrating various modalities in the process of therapy. Practice of creative self-expression.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
teadmised kunstiteraapiate kujunemisest, kunstide psühhoteraapilisest rakendamisest, kunstiteraapia protsessist;
oskus määratleda kunstiteraapiaid teiste teraapiate ja muude lähedaste valdkondade kontekstis, oskus kasutada kunstimeediumit suhtlusvahendina;
suutlikkus kirjeldada terapeutilist protsessi teraapias loodud kunstitööde kaudu
