Course aims
Provide students with knowledge of the principles, tools, and techniques of music production and sound design in the Ableton Live environment.
Develop practical skills in audio recording, mixing, mastering, and sound synthesis.
Enhance critical listening skills and analytical thinking to enable students to evaluate both their own and others’ creative work.
Brief description of the course
In the first half of the course, students will learn music production in the Ableton Live environment. During this process, they will complete practical assignments, including producing a track using their own voice as source material, recreating a well-known song, and composing and producing an original musical piece.
In the second half of the course, students will create sound design for a self-filmed clip, incorporating background music, sound effects, and environmental sounds. Additionally, they will design sound for an animation and complete a practical sound design task.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- applys the principles, tools, and techniques of music production and sound design in the Ableton Live environment;
- has developed practical skills in audio recording, mixing, mastering, and sound synthesis;
- is able to critically analyze and evaluate both their own and others’ creative work using advanced listening and analytical thinking skills.
