Course aims
To develop an understanding of music technology and the need to use it in music education. Obtain knowledge of digital music technologies including music notation and sound editor programme basic skills. Knowledge of song teaching principles.
Brief description of the course
Topic 1: Vocal work and methods of teaching songs (using listening, hand-signs, music notation). Basic principles of relative solfege. Practical tasks. Independent work with preparation of song teaching. Topics 2 & 3: Use of digital technology in music education. Independent work: searching several free software and introducing their possibilities in music education contexts. Introduction to the basics of several notation (T2), sound edit and sequencer programms (T3), e.g. Musescore and Sibelius, Audacity and Reaper.Independent work with your own materials, course materials, tasks, group work and tests in IVA environment.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
I Ability to teach a group a song using listening, hand-signs or music notation.II Ability to use basic notation in Musescore and/or Sibelius and saving your own music or a song arrangement into adequate formats.III Ability to compile in Reaper with the help of Audacity a 2–3 min. normalized and correctly faded soundfile containing of several manipulated sounds (original sounds of free choice; e.g. speed, tempo and pitch manipulation) using at least three effects and saving it into adequate formats.

Additional information
Formative assessment of practical work in progress (song teaching for groups) and material uploaded or performed in IVA (terminology, short introductions of free software, performance of notation and soundfiles). Memorystick or other USB based file storage (min. 2 GB) required.All tasks of each course topic must be delivered to the teachers. The student is allowed to be absent (without formal reason) only for one lecture meeting (2 academic hours) in each module.
