Course aims
Acquiring basic know-how and skill to work with school orchestras. Introducing and explaining the terminology and professional language necessary to work as a conductor, obtaining elementary conducting tools.
Brief description of the course
Types of school orchestras. Different methodologies for teaching a school orchestra. Working with beginners. Preparing and carrying out an orchestra rehearsal. A conductor as an artistic director, organiser and pedagogue. Concepts of score, instrument groups, transposition, facture of a musical work, tessitura, etc. In individual lessons auftakt, measures of 2, 3, 4, 6 beats, bringing in and cutting off the instruments in the orchestra. Conducting easier pieces to the accompaniment of the piano.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student:
- is familiar with different methodologies of teaching a school orchestra;
- is familiar with scores, transposition, playing the voices of single instruments on the piano;
- is able to conduct musical compositions of various characters to the accompaniment of the piano.
