Course aims
To guide students in enhancing various conducting technique skills according to the chosen repertoire. To introduce the characteristics of conducting masterpieces.
Brief description of the course
Working with the repertoires of ensembles, children’s, boys, female, male and mixed choirs. Conducting masterpieces for different choirs. Conducting instrumental accompaniment and choral scores and creating a musical entirety. Conducting techniques: enhancing skills acquired during the fourth semester; broken and divided beat. Conducting combined- and changing meters. Gestures: breaking, bouncing, conducting with both hands. Singing voice parts and playing choral scores. Contextual and formal analysis and interpretation of songs. Recognising different musical styles when conducting. Working with choral scores: transposing music by one tone; playing all voice parts; studying the alto-, soprano- and tenor clefs and implementing them in playing the scores. Student’s work with five different choral songs.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- The student can conduct musical masterpieces a cappella and with orchestral accompaniment.
- Is able to play the choral scores.
- Can perform voice parts in a vocally and intonationally high level.
- Can independently analyse choral pieces (in writing, orally)
- The student can conduct choral pieces in changing- and combined meters.

Mid-term colloquiums:
