Course aims
The aim of the course is to introduce the students the practical tools for Audio Digital Sound Editing, technology for making CD and the main principles for movie sound recording.
Brief description of the course
Effect-processors (reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, distortion). Dynamic processors (compressor, gate, limiter). Equalising (equalisers, harmonic generators). Processors for changing pitch and length (pitchshift, timestretch). Sound positioning (stereo, DOLBY Surround, DTS).Synchronisation of audio and video. Mixdown. Spectral analysis. Mastering. DATs, minidiscs, and audio CDs. Techniques of making audio CDs.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Student has knowledge of effect-processors and dynamic processors, importance of equalising, the principles of synchronisation of audio and video, sound positioning and soundtracks mixdown.
