Course aims
To give students the knowledge and skills required to give first aid and resuscitation in accidents or emergencies. Students acquire the skills to give first aid and resuscitation and to teach them in secondary schools.
Brief description of the course
Injury prevention strategies in the world, example of WHO Injury Prevention Centre
Surveillance systems, statistics and analyzing data. Most common risk factors and their prevention: behavioarl and environmental factors.
Traffic accidents and children. How to be seen, wearing helmets etc. Violence and injuries. Examples of school projects from USA and Sweden. Teenages and risky behaviour.
Most common injuries: First aid knowledges and simple surveillance skills.
Special problems: drug overdose, suicide etc.
Methodology of first aid for the children in different ages.
Motivation and feelings in critical situations. Emotional crisis, counseling principles for general population (Not for professional counseling)
