Course aims

To provide students with information about health education and motivation for reducing self destructive behaviour. Students acquire skills in health education and the prevention of health risks, also the skills to teach these subjects in secondary schools.

Brief description of the course

WHO determination of health. Historic development of health concepts. Health promotion and prevention levels. School health education as a preventor of risk behaviour. UP date (contemporary) concept of school health education, its effectiveness and application. Aspects of health in methodology. Strategies of prevention in and out of lessons. Active study in health education. The reduction of motivation for self destructive behaviour as the most modern strategy in school education. Short instruction on quality standards, demands for teaching aids /active worksheets, videos, etc. Minimum background knowledge and skills in health education according to primary prevention levels. Health behaviour and factors affecting it. Beliefs - attitudes increasing risk behaviour and health protection factors.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Lectures, practical training, group work: example exercises, presentation of independent Group work results. Assessment of independent work: oral and/or written presentation on planned additional material.
