Course aims
To impart knowledge and skills to facilitate the integrated participation of handicapped (special needs) pupils in lessons of physical education in a mainstream school.
Brief description of the course
History of special physical education. Causes of physical, mental and sensory handicaps. The potential for methods and forms of physical education in rehabilitation. Self-reliance and motivation for physical activity in handicapped pupils. Adaptation and creativity. The individualisation of curricula of physical education for special needs children. The legal foundations for segregation and integration of special needs children.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Loengud, seminarid, praktikumid. Seminaridel presenteeritakse iseseisva töö tulemusi. Praktikumid viiakse läbi erivajadustega õpilaste õppe- ja hooldusasutustes.
