Course aims
To prepare students to work in PR, advertising or marketing enterprise and make a solid link between academic knowledge and practical daily work. The course will prepare students to council and understand the expectations of agency’s or in-house clients for communication and different aspects of it. The course provides an overview of both national and international communication industry.
Brief description of the course
The course provides practice in applying knowledge acquired in previous specialized courses within a simulated agency setting, where students must act as consultants or creative directors to propose solutions to briefs submitted by various clients. This covers various aspects of professional entrepreneurship, ranging from participating in tenders to entering professional award competitions. The course provides an understanding of what professional work can entail beyond the practical level, allowing students to assess the current level of client expectations in Estonia and identify potential gaps in the communications services market.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to convey professional knowledge and perspectives to partners without specialized training;
- understands the various niches and roles in the communications industry, as well as the prerequisites for effectively performing different work tasks;
- is able to relate problems presented by clients to theoretical models and tools from various courses taken, and is familiar with local and international business practices and processes.
