Course aims

The objective of the course is to support preparedness for creating vocational education teaching materials and to create opportunities to use, choose and create vocational education teaching materials according to the needs of the students, the learning outcomes, the study form and didactic principles.

Brief description of the course

Topics covered on course: The role of teaching materials in the vocational education process, analysis of teaching materials. Technical teaching materials (models, simulation devices, tools and equipment), educational films and programmes in vocational education. Paper and electronic educational tools and materials in vocational education. Field-specific e-learning in vocational education. Searching for, analysing, using, changing and sharing vocational education teaching materials, protecting teaching materials as intellectual property. Assessing the appropriateness of teaching materials based on the target group.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- selects purposeful, relevant and up-to-date teaching materials based on the characteristics and specific nature of the students and the field;
- assesses the suitability and usability of existing teaching materials based on the vocational education target group and the requirements set for teaching materials;
- creates simpler teaching materials that support achieving the learning outcomes of the field of study, based on the requirements set for the teaching materials and didactic principles.
