Course aims
Create conditions to link student teachers` previous experiences and knowledge with Estonian school context;
Support forming the student teachers´ ability to observe and analyze pedagogical situations and learning environment in Estonian school context;
Support student´s adaption with teacher´s role.
Develop student teachers` pedagogical skills in foreign learning environment.
Brief description of the course
Teaching practice takes place in general education schools of Tallinn. Tasks are completed in schools and their final analyzes take place in seminars at the University.
The practice includes participating in school teachers' tasks; observing the lessons of other teachers and peer students; and conducting lessons.
Observation tasks are related to:
1. human physical, social, emotional and cognitive development,
2. learning environment in school,
3. learning objectives and methodology.
Teaching tasks are related to general topics about teacher students` homelands culture, history and geography. Lessons are prepared and classes are conducted under supervision of university teacher and mentor in practice school in English.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student teacher is able to describe connections between school reality and theoretical studies in educational sciences in Estonian school context.
The student teacher can plan and conduct integrated introductory lessons in English (and/or in native language if possible) about their homelands history, culture and geography in basic school and/or upper secondary school.
The student teacher record their explorations and reflections upon their classroom experiences.
