Course aims
This is a core subject in the curriculum of Adult Education. Its aim is to create opportunities and preconditions for orientation in adult education. To support readiness for understanding and analysing the relations and problems between lifelong learning and adult education.
Brief description of the course
Adult education as a field of practice and research object. Theoretical foundations of adult education. Adult education in the education system: current status, problems and development trends. Lifelong learning as an educational policy concept. Lifelong learning aspects: social, economic, political, educational policy and psychological. Preconditions for the development of the system and environment of lifelong learning. Mechanisms of adult education policy and regulations, social aspects and current status. Policy trends in the EU adult education. Critical analysis: adult education in the EU educational policy developments. European integration and professional training policy.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- orients himself/herself in the field of practice of adult education;
- is able to understand and analyse the connections and problems of adult education, lifelong learning and adult learning;
- is able to present the results of his/her work as a written seminar paper and at a conference.
