Course aims

To create the prerequisites for the development of an understanding of the communication and counseling process and to provide students with basic communication and counseling competencies in order to develop a willingness to work with different target groups.

Brief description of the course

Ethics and limitations in work with different target groups. Psychology of communication, forms of communication, different communication techniques. Counseling skills. The importance of cooperation, cooperation skills and principles with different target groups.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows professional ethics, follows and values ethical principles related to the counseling process;
- has knowledge of the importance and possibilities of involving different target groups in their work;
- knows practical communication techniques and strategies in different cooperation situations;
- can determine the need for counseling and handle the counseling situation in a systematic and complex manner;
- can analyze his/her own actions and role in the counseling process.
