Course aims
To give knowledge and skills about multisensory approach to acalculia.
Brief description of the course
The essence of math learning disability. Structure of a problem; reasons and guides of studying problems and output problems. Neurophysiological background of the brain and taking it into account when dealing with pupils with math learning disabilities. Mathematics as a subject proceeding from the point of view of ordering the indicators of teaching. Manifestation of different math learning disabilities in the case of different mental disorders. Determining math learning disabilities - quantitative and qualitative analysis. The hierarchical system of teaching mathematics: the hierarchical system of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Special didactics of teaching mathematics. Special didactics of teaching story problems.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge about the neurophysiological background of the brain and the importance of taking it into account in dealing with pupils with math learning disabilities;
- is oriented towards the requirements of the national curricula of mathematics and is able to assess the conformity of the child's knowledge and skills to them;
- has acquire knowledge and skills to determine math learning disabilities;
- has acquire knowledge and skills in the special didactics of teaching mathematics.
