Course aims
Developing readiness for constant cooperation with pupils with native language disorders; developing readiness for continuous learning in looking for different sources of information and giving meaning to the information that gives overview of the essence and reasons of reading and writing disorders and provides effective intervention strategies.
Brief description of the course
The nature of reading and writing difficulties, reasons for the difficulties; reading and writing difficulties in the classification of learning difficulties, relation to the learning difficulties; revelation of reading and writing difficulties in various age groups; detecting reading and writing difficulties; teacher's possibilities to teach children with reading and writing difficulties.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to describe and analyse the difficulties related to the pupils’ native language;
- is aware of the bio-psycho-social factors of the formation of difficulties;
- is able to integrate information from different sources into a uniform body, is aware of the process-centred approach, i.e. the principles of predicting, preventing and overcoming difficulties.
