Course aims
Developing students' readiness to solve problems in the context of involving education, with the trend towards looking for practical solutions in education. Developing students' readiness for professional competences; raising awareness in the excising learning conditions; developing students' constructive approach in assessing and altering the needs and possibilities based on the principle of approximating special education and regular schooling.
Brief description of the course
The concept of adaptation of teaching, relations to learning theories. Types and philosophy of differentiation. Differentiation and practical teaching. Mapping individual development potentials in observation charts (examples). Stages in individual approach. The need and opportunities of special educational intervention in teaching. Guidance and process diagnostics as a dynamic system. Support services, information exchange. Networking inside an organisation. Efficient teaching structure and its preconditions, forms and possibilities (in a school). Approximation of special and mainstream education, facilitating transition from one school stage to another, in assessment, graduation, vocational training and in overcoming teen-age development crisis.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to determine the requirements for educational special needs, the type of individual curriculum;
- knows the general principles of compiling and applying individual curricula in different contexts; institutional peculiarities;
- is aware of the different forms of open learning, the bases of system work, the principles of process-centred diagnostics, the principles of case-study approach, the principles of cooperation;
- is able to formulate, present, reason pertinent opinions proceeding from their individual view points.
