Course aims
To render the importance of the characteristics of the student's development through knowing and developing the strategies of social coping. Getting acquainted with the widespread concepts of social upbringing.

Brief description of the course
The aim of the subject is to acquire theoretical knowledge of the structure of social skills, to study social deprivation, and to apply pertinent skills in practical activity. Skill to communicate with other people, which is the foundation for the success of human activity. The subject focuses on the structure of social skills and on the possibilities to study social deprivation. The expectations of the changing society on the social competences of the young. Defining social skills. Social skills and life skills. Reflexive skills and emotional skills. The consequences of insufficient social skills. Developmental nature of social skills. Deprivation as a risk factor. Developing social skills through teaching. The most common assessment methods for studying the level of social skills.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Students acquire knowledge about the concept and essence of the structure of social skills;
They acquire knowledge and practical skills about human development, socialising, communication and relations, skills for successful communication and behaviour on different levels;
Students get an overview of the society’s expectations on the social competence of the young, of the consequences of not acquiring social skills;
They acquire theoretical and practical skills to study social deprivation.
