Course aims

To support the development of competencies for the analysis of contemporary development trends, research methods, strategies, models and theories in information science,

Brief description of the course

Individual subject of PhD studies. PhD student can choose an information science course from the courses offered by post-graduate schools or PhD level courses of other universities.
Topics:
Contemporary research areas and trends in information science. Paradigms, theories and models. Research methods and strategies. Research and researchers in information science. Main directions of information science research in Estonia.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Has an overview of main development trends of information science;
Ability to analyse and evaluate different research projects, paradigms, theories and models;
Ability to determine problems that require further research;
Ability to give a synthetic survey of research result and present it to professional audience;
Ability to work with literature in foreign languages and communicate prodfessional audience.
