Course aims
Creating the conditions for acquiring knowledge and skills related to the provision of analytical information services necessary for an organization information specialist.
Brief description of the course
The role of information in the achievement of organizational goals, in support of management decisions and adaptation to changing environments. Information services provided by an organization's information specialist. Specifics of subject and information analyst´s work. Organizing information from internal and external information sources. Analytical information products. Monitoring external information as an instrument for information and knowledge management. Definitions and objectives of information monitoring. Information monitoring methods. Web, deep-web and social networks as information monitoring environments. Web tracking tools: Website-Watcher, Capture-Saver, Copernic Tracker Infominder, Change Notes etc. The use of different methods of analysis in the preparation of information products. Empirical, logical and heuristic methods.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the importance of information and analytical services in organization for achieving organizational goals, for decision making process and its adapting to changing environments;
- has knowledge of the nature of information monitoring and importance of providing analytical information services in organization;
- knows the specifics of the information monitoring of the web environment and the most important monitoring options and methods;
- manages the information processing principles and information analysis methods.

- has knowledge of the nature of information monitoring and importance of providing analytical information services in organization;
