Course aims
To create preconditions for the formation of knowledge about the information services and service processes in digital environment and developing the preparedness for provision of services.
Brief description of the course
Information services main theoretical approaches formation. The classification of information services. Reference services and reference interview. Current awareness services, information literacy tools and services, self-serving tools and services. Information research services. Information service models and service development. Dissemination of information services. Information services for different target groups. Information service quality and user satisfaction.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the nature of the information service;
- is familiar with the information services of various types, models and levels;
- is able to conduct reference interviews, select the data sources that are relevant with the information needs of the various target groups;
- is familiar with the quality criteria of information services and analysis methods of user satisfaction.
