Course aims
To create possibilities to connect theoretical knowledge obtained during the studies with every day practice of memory institutions and to help to obtain new, mainly practical skills and working experience.
Brief description of the course
During the practical placement a student fulfills the assignements foreseen in the practical placement guide. Together with a tutor from a memory institution, a student puts together an individual plan which reflects the practical assignments and deadlines, performed during the placement. Individual plan is presented together with practical placement report.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
A student who has passed practical placement:
- knows the functions of a memory institution and its role in preservation of cultural heritage;
- is aware of the principles of collection development, organisation and management of memory institution's collections;
- knows the memory institution's information system and is able to retrieve information;
- has an overview of services provided by the memory institution and has servicing experience.
