Course aims

To create preconditions for the development of information specialists who know the possibilities and principles of knowledge management technology and organize knowledge management in libraries and information institutions, who are competent to organize learning at the organizational level.

Brief description of the course

Conceptualization and models of digital library. The role of technologies in the digital library.
Life course of a digital object in a digital library - technological solutions:
• Reception
• Quality control
• Description
• Preparation for storage
• Care and maintenance
• Use
Digital storage architectures and applications; application of cloud technology.
Mobile applications for digital libraries.
Digital library and open data.
Linked to open data libraries.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows digital library models and architectures;
- is able to analyze and evaluate digital library technologies for different stages of the life cycle of a digital object;
- can plan the use of digital library technologies.
